HIGH, WIDE AND HANDSOME
Sunday January 27, 2013
Haiku Reserve, Main Street, Katikati
January 27th saw a crowd of over 1000 people stroll into the Haiku Reserve on a warm and sunny afternoon. The second 2013 Twilight Concert tertiary scholarship was presented to talented young violinist Rebeca Whalley, who gave a recital to an enthusiatic audience.

Tauranga band Mis-Direction then performed 20 minutes of fabulous songs from popular boy bands from various eras and had the crowd up dancing from the start.
With their own dose of humour they changed ‘hats’ to suit songs that included The Beatles, Beach Boys and even the Village People.
Concert-goers thoroughly enjoyed their show, which was put together especially for this Twilight Concert.
The main act that followed were High, Wide and Handsome, featuring Jackie Clark, Rikki Morris and Chet O’Connell. They teamed up to perform an evening of Kiwi music from greats such as Dragon, Avalanche City and Tim Finn. Rikki also sang Nobody Else which was a number 1 hit for him 25 years ago and a great crowd pleaser.
Jackie, with her powerful voice, belted out songs that everyone knew and danced to, ending with the best rendition of I See Red that you will hear anywhere in New Zealand. Her stage presence and interaction with the audience made for a fabulous concert that left people singing as they took their picnic baskets and headed home. A great night!
